What is the EITC Program? The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program allows private donations to enhance the educational opportunities for students in Pennsylvania. Through the EITC program, eligible businesses can donate to the Hollidaysburg Area School District Foundation (HASDF) and receive tax credits equal to a percentage of their gift. The HASDF is an approved Educational Improvement Organization (EIO) in the EITC program.
What does it mean that the HASDF is an improved EIO? The HASDF is an approved EIO because we enhance the educational opportunities and experiences of the students in the Hollidaysburg Area School District. We do this through grant initiatives. Venture Grants: are used to support innovative teaching and learning initiatives within the District. These grants are awarded to enable unique teaching strategies to become reality. Venture grants lead to subsequent enhancements of the school’s regular curriculum. The Educator-in-Residence Program: is designed to bring guest artists, educators, diplomats and authors into the District to enrich the learning process. Educators-in-Residence share their expertise with students, teachers, staff and members of the community. Supporting our teachers ideas for enhanced education and brining new and innovative learning and teaching opportunities to our students is the overriding goal of the HASDF.
Benefits to your company?
- It is the same money that you would use to pay taxes to the state of Pennsylvania. The HASDF is simply asking you to redirect the funds to our non-profit.
- The tax credit relieves you of your obligation. The EITC provides your company with a 75% tax credit for donations to an EIO, such as the HASDF. The tax credit increases to 90% if you commit to making the same donation for two consecutive years.
- Your company is supporting innovative teaching and learning at the Hollidaysburg Area School District
- It is easy to participate. A business application guide can be found at RA-EITC@pa.gov.
